Nottingham Cellars
Nottingham Cellars was established in 2009 by Jeff Cranor and his son Collin, who began crafting wines at a young age alongside his father. The family built a small winery and tasting room in Livermore, emphasizing local fruit and producing their first in-house vintage that year. The winery initially focused on producing accessible, creative, site-driven wines, often drawing from Central Coast and local Livermore vineyards.

After a decade in Livermore, Nottingham Cellars relocated its headquarters and primary operations to Napa Valley to be closer to its key grape-growing partners. The winery produces small-lot, high-quality wines emphasizing Cabernet Sauvignon from esteemed Napa vineyards, alongside Russian River Sauvignon Blanc and occasional experimental or historic-site bottlings (such as Zinfandel from sites like Monte Rosso). The wines are known for their structure, concentration, rich fruit flavors (like black cherry, currant, and spice), and balanced tannins that reward aging.

The winery has since become part of the broader Syndicate Wines portfolio following a 2025 merger that unified Nottingham Cellars with sister projects like Grape Culture and Typicité under one banner. Nottingham Cellars remains dedicated to capturing the essence of exceptional vineyard sites through meticulous, small-production winemaking, offering both approachable and more ambitious expressions that reflect the Cranor family's passion for Cabernet and emerging varietals like Sauvignon Blanc.

The area that became the city of Livermore was briefly known as Nottingham due to a mistaken belief about the birthplace of its namesake. When the post office opened in 1869, postal authorities thought Robert Livermore had been born in Nottingham, England—he was actually born in Springfield, Essex. The post office name was corrected 18 months later. This brief chapter in Livermore’s history inspired the name of Nottingham Cellars.
