Crooked Vine Winery
Talented winemaker Dale Vaughn-Bowen and her father Clyde purchased Stony Ridge Winery in 2000. They expanded the operation by creating the Crooked Vine label to showcase premium fruit from the Livermore Valley. The name "Crooked Vine" drew from family connections (including Clyde Vaughn's initials) and the label featured artwork by Dale's daughter Morgan. At one point there were thoughts of rebranding Stony Ridge as Crooked Vine. In the end, both labels continued to flourish side by side.

In 2007, the Corbett family acquired both Crooked Vine and Stony Ridge from their friends the Vaughns. The Corbetts were experienced grape growers with an estate vineyard on a prime site atop Crane Ridge in the Livermore Valley. This allowed them to pursue a vision of 100% estate-grown wines, controlling the process from vineyard to bottle.

Under Rick Corbett, the wineries produced award-winning varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Viognier, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Malvasia. Crooked Vine was generally positioned as the more upscale or premium line compared to Stony Ridge, though both benefited from the estate fruit and shared production.

The combined operation was a fixture on the Livermore Valley wine trail, praised for approachable wines, vineyard views, and its convenient location near the start of many tours. The site became known for a casual, rustic tasting experience offering wines from both labels in one visit, along with a popular café. Crooked Vine's story highlights the interconnected history of Livermore Valley wineries, blending 19th-century roots with modern estate-focused winemaking in a shared, visitor-friendly setting.

The café operated as part of the shared Stony Ridge and Crooked Vine facility until the wineries closed. It contributed to the site's appeal as a rustic, dual-winery destination rather than a high-end dining spot. It offered reasonably priced food in a casual, vineyard setting with picnic areas, gardens, and courtyard seating—ideal for a relaxed midday stop.
