Eckert Estate Winery
Eckert Estate Winery was a small, family-owned winery located in Livermore. Operated by Michael and Vickie Eckert, it stood out as one of the few producers in the region that combined winemaking with spirits distillation. The winery's on-site Artisan Spirits Distillery produced small-batch spirits, offering something for both wine drinkers and those interested in distilled beverages.

The winery produced hand-crafted wines from grapes grown in and around the Livermore Valley, featuring an eclectic selection of Italian, Portuguese, and French varietals such as Petite Sirah, Dolcetto, Malbec, and Semillon. Bottles were affordably priced, with an emphasis on approachable, quality wines available mainly through the tasting room, the winery’s website, or select local outlets. Visitors enjoyed full wine flights alongside spirit flights in a casual, unpretentious setting..

A distinctive feature of the Eckert Estate experience was its connection to olive trees. The winery sold extra virgin olive oil produced from their surrounding olive trees, which visitors could sample and purchase alongside the wines. Guests frequently praised the olive oil as delicious—sometimes even more memorable than the wines themselves—with many taking home bottles of both wine and olive oil. The site also allowed tours of an associated olive mill (Arroyo Windmill Groves), adding a rustic, farm-to-table element that complemented the wine and spirits tastings.

Though its physical tasting room and production have ended, Eckert Estate Winery left behind fond memories for visitors who appreciated its friendly service, good value, the novelty of the winery-distillery concept, and the opportunity to enjoy estate olive oil made from the surrounding trees. It remains a charming footnote in the evolving story of small, passionate producers in the Livermore Valley wine scene.

Eckert Estate Winery's distillery offered small-batch spirits such as vodka, gin, brandy, and flavored eaux de vie. The shared focus on wine, spirits, and olive oil created a unique, multifaceted tasting experience in one of California’s historic wine regions.
