The winged, antique pocket watch displayed on the Occasio Winery wine labels has been artfully recreated with vintage winemaking tools—a focal point in the boutique winery's newly appointed tasting room. Just a few steps away, the business of winemaking takes place in a state-of-the-art production room.
Those who visit Occasio Winery for the first time are usually curious about the winery's name. The origin is the Latin phrase Occasio aegre offertur, facile amittitur, which translates to the right moment comes along rarely and is easily lost.
If not for the "wine tasting" signs outside you'd be tempted to drive right past next-door neighbors Occasio Winery and Nottingham Cellars on South Vasco Road.
Occasio's nondescript exterior belies the ochre-kissed walls and busy winery within. The ceiling in the private tasting room was designed around a repurposed satelite dish. How cool is that?
