Embodied Wines was a boutique, family-owned winery and vibrant tasting room located in the urban wine district of Livermore. Winemaker Kimmie Orani-Spears and her husband Stephen Spears offered a relaxed alternative to larger, more traditional estates, and built a following through their Instagram presence and community engagement.
Kimmie was known for her hands-on style, including the use of trained falcons in the vineyards for natural pest control—a unique detail appreciated by visitors. The winery emphasized turning high-quality fruit into carefully crafted wines, with a focus on Livermore Valley grapes.
One of the most popular photo ops at Embodied Wines was the large painted falcon wings mural on a wall near the tasting bar. Kimmie painted it herself, and visitors loved standing in front of the oversized wings for Instagram-worthy photos, with arms outstretched as if they were soaring like a bird of prey. It was frequently highlighted as one of the most Instagrammable spots in the Livermore Valley, with guests calling it the "perfect spot to get your wings."
Kimmie is a state-licensed falconer, and her trained falcons and other raptors were sometimes present in the tasting room. This included a lanner falcon named Bart, a Harris’s hawk named Bodie, and a pair of red-tailed hawks, Toko and Aztec. Visitors enjoyed seeing raptorial birds up close during wine tastings—a truly unique and cool experience.
These elements gave Embodied Wines a playful, memorable personality that blended winemaking with a love for birds of prey. Many visitors said the combination of good wines, friendly owners, and cozy, rustic surroundings made it feel unlike any other stop in Livermore.
As part of Livermore Valley’s Painted Barrel Trail, Embodied Wines featured a barrel with a strong bird-of-prey theme. Artist and licensed falconer Skyler Wolf depicted many of Kimmie’s birds along with her own (hawks, falcons, owls), tying into the winery’s falconry passion.
