Rodrigue Molyneaux Winery
Nancy and Garry Rodrigue have lived in Livermore for decades. They purchased their property in 1988 when the vineyards on the land had been dormant for about 120 years. What started as a hobby of reclaiming and replanting the land, initially with a block of Cabernet Sauvignon, evolved into a full winery. "Rodrigue" comes from Garry’s side of the family (with roots in France and Portugal). "Molyneaux" comes from Nancy’s side (with French origins). They combined the two surnames to symbolize their partnership and commitment to quality winemaking.
Garry has an extensive science background, which he applies to winemaking by studying techniques and chemistry, taking classes, and collaborating with other winemakers. This has helped elevate the wines while keeping them approachable and high-quality. He and Nancy are often present at the winery on weekends, happily chatting with guests about the wines and beautiful premises.
Nancy designed the winery’s expansive drought-resistant native plant garden—one of the largest in the Livermore Valley—by transforming a former large lawn. As an avid hiker, she drew inspiration from her walks in the hills to create a natural habitat, reminiscent of those experiences. The garden features natives like valley oak, California lilac, Douglas iris, pink-flowering currant, and fuchsia-flowering gooseberry. Flagstone paths surrounded by river rock define the garden beds. The serene space with a fountain attracts wildlife such as orioles, hummingbirds, owls, hawks, foxes, skunks, and bobcats. Visitors are drawn to the peaceful picnic-friendly setting.
Rodrigue Molyneaux Winery remains very much a family operation, with daughter Lindsey (a certified advanced sommelier and wine specialist) involved as general manager. Nancy and Garry started the winery in 2004 out of a deep belief in Livermore Valley as a historic cornerstone of California wine. They've focused on Italian and Bordeaux-style varietals that thrive in the local terroir. Initially their wines were available exclusively to friends, before the winery built a loyal following.

Tri-Valley Trails: Hiking Adventures in the Greater Livermore, Amador, and San Ramon Valleys
by Nancy Rodrigue and Jacky Poulsen
Tri-Valley Trails: Hiking Adventures in the Greater Livermore, Amador and San Ramon Valleys
What sets Tri-Valley Trails apart is its local perspective. Nancy Rodrigue highlights lesser-known paths—like the serene Sycamore Grove loops and the panoramic views from Morgan Territory—that often escape mainstream guides. Her winery background subtly informs the narrative; several routes pass near tasting rooms or historic vineyards, making this a rare hiking book that pairs well with a post-trail glass of Bordeaux-style red.
