Rubino Estates Winery

Rubino Estates Winery

Rubino Estates Winery is located at 1188 Vineyard Avenue in Pleasanton, California

Rubino Estates Winery
Rubino Estates Winery is sister winery to Ruby Hills Winery. Rubino is an Italian word for ruby, and both wineries celebrate the Italian heritage of the valley's Ruby Hill area.

Rubino Estates Winery is located in the same spot where Ruby Hill Winery once adorned the landscape with its grand, red-brick building.

The original 1887 structure was destroyed in a fire in November 1989, but many bricks and keystones found new life in an architectural replica built on the site.

The roomy and beautifully appointed tasting room provides a comfortable and interesting environment for visitors to mingle and experience a variety of fine Italian style wines.

Wine tasting is available every day of the week at Rubino Estates Winery. The tasting room offers an Italian settlers' old world atmosphere.

Many visitors to the spacious tasting room stroll about the marble floors with a glass of wine, or settle in near the cozy fireplace. Unique gift items are on display throughout the room, and a Deli offers sandwiches and other tasty menu items.

Wine Varietals: Barbera Dessert Wine, Brut, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Moscato, Muscat Canelli, Pinot Grigio, Primitivo, Salute Red Blend, Salute White Blend

Pleasanton (Images of America)
by Mary-Jo Wainwright and the Museum on Main

Pleasanton (CA) (Images of America)Pleasanton (CA) (Images of America)Pleasanton (CA) (Images of America)

This slim volume captures the essence of Pleasanton—a Tri-Valley gem born in 1867 from the land grants of California pioneers and a quirky postal misspelling of Civil War general Alfred Pleasonton's name. Co-authored by local historian and college instructor Mary-Jo Wainwright, alongside the Museum on Main, the book draws from the museum's vast photo collection to trace the town's arc from ranchero adobes and railroad depots to its leafy suburbs and thriving downtown.

What shines here is the visual storytelling: over 200 black-and-white images evoke pure Americana, from early immigrant settlers to mid-century fairs and the evolution of Main Street's Victorian facades into boutique-lined haunts. Wainwright's concise narratives add context, blending quirky anecdotes (like the railroad's pivotal land deal) with poignant glimpses of daily life.

Ruby Hill Winery

Ruby Hill Winery

Ruby Hill Winery is located at 400 Vineyard Avenue in Pleasanton, California

Ruby Hill Winery
The original Ruby Hill Winery dates back to 1887. Founder John Crellin named the winery for the vineyard's rich, red soil. More than a century later—in February 2008—Ruby Hill Winery celebrated its grand opening at a new location in Pleasanton.

Ruby Hill's wine list is primarily estate, focusing on Zinfandel and Petit Sirah varieties. The winery is committed to producing estate quality wines at affordable prices, which has made it very popular with local wine enthusiasts.

Not surprisingly, the winery had a following before it officially opened.

At nearly 5,000 square feet, Ruby Hill's spacious, Mediterranean-style tasting room is probably the largest in the Livermore Valley.

The tasting room deli offers a number of lunch items that can be enjoyed picnic-style on the grounds overlooking the estate vineyards.

Wine club members, known as the Gem Society, enjoy a private, cordoned lounge area with their own hospitality attendant.

Wine Varietals: Barbera, Bordeaux Style Blend, Cabernet Sauvignon, California Sparkling Wine, Chardonnay, Chardonnay Blend, Merlot, Muscat, Petite Sirah, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Port, Rosato, Ruby Port, Sangiovese, Zinfandel
